Download the whole Doc as .md
Open the Markdown menu in the GPT Workspace bar at the bottom of the document and choose Download .md. Images are kept as references and the file name matches the Doc title.
Copy a selection as Markdown
Select a few paragraphs, a table or a list and copy them as Markdown. Paste into a GitHub issue, a Slack message, Notion or ChatGPT without reformatting.
Clean output, no escape noise
Google adds backslashes before dashes, dots and brackets in its own export. GPT Workspace removes that noise, fixes stray bold markers and collapses extra blank lines.
Tables, code and checklists
Docs tables become pipe tables, monospace blocks become fenced code and checklist items become task list items, so the structure survives the trip.
Right-click to export
A context menu entry on any Google Doc page gives the same Copy as Markdown and Download .md actions without opening the bar.
Private by design
The export uses the same session your browser already has with Google. Nothing is sent to GPT Workspace servers and no extra permission is requested.

Vanliga frågor
Yes, File > Download > Markdown (.md) exists since 2024, and Copy as Markdown is in the Edit menu once Markdown is enabled in Preferences. The output escapes punctuation heavily and loses some structure, which is why GPT Workspace cleans it and adds selection export.
Select the text, open the Markdown submenu in the GPT Workspace bar (or right-click) and choose Copy selection as Markdown. The clipboard now holds Markdown for just that selection.
Download .md keeps images as embedded references so the file stays self-contained. Copy as Markdown strips image data to keep the clipboard small, and the toast tells you how many were removed.
Yes. Tables become GitHub-style pipe tables, paragraphs in a monospace font become fenced code blocks and inline monospace becomes inline code. Checklists become task list items.
Yes. Markdown export is part of the free GPT Workspace Chrome extension and does not use AI credits. Pair it with the free Markdown viewer and converters at gpt.space/tools.
