Converts on paste
The extension recognises Markdown on the clipboard and pastes it as formatted text: headings become Docs heading styles, bullets and numbered lists keep their nesting, links stay clickable.
Tables and code blocks survive
Pipe tables become real Google Docs tables and fenced code lands as a shaded monospace block. Both are what the built-in Markdown paste in Docs still loses.
Undo in one click
A small toast confirms the conversion with Undo, so a paste that was meant to stay raw is one click away. Turn the feature off from the same toast or in Settings.
Made for AI answers
ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot and most AI tools answer in Markdown. Paste their output straight into reports, briefs and meeting notes without reformatting.
Nothing leaves the document
Detection and conversion run inside the browser tab. No text is sent to GPT Workspace servers and the document is never read in the background.

Partly. Since 2024 Google Docs can convert pasted Markdown when you enable Tools > Preferences > Enable Markdown, and since October 2026 Drive opens .md files in Docs. Tables, fenced code blocks and some nested lists are still dropped, which is what the GPT Workspace extension fixes.
Install the free GPT Workspace Chrome extension, copy the ChatGPT answer as plain text (or Markdown) and paste it into your Doc with Ctrl+V or Cmd+V. The extension detects Markdown and inserts formatted text. A toast lets you undo.
Markdown pipe tables become real Google Docs tables with a header row. Column alignment is kept where Docs supports it, and you can resize and style the table as usual.

Yes. Click Undo in the toast after pasting to get the raw text back, or paste with Ctrl+Shift+V, which bypasses the conversion. The feature can be disabled in GPT Workspace Settings at any time.
