Sarah Chen·April 28, 2026·6 min readAI tools are taking over the repetitive parts of work. Writing first drafts, summarizing long documents and sorting email threads used to eat hours. Now they take seconds, and teams are moving that time to work that actually needs a human.
Where the Time Goes
A 2026 survey across 400 mid-size companies found that employees using AI assistants saved an average of 40% of the time they previously spent on document-heavy tasks. That is two hours back per day for a typical knowledge worker.
