Why do I need to make a copy?
The Doc is created in a GPT Workspace demo account so you can try the converter without signing in. Making a copy moves an editable version into your own Google Drive. Demo files are removed after 24 hours.
Does Google Docs support Markdown natively?
Partly. Google Docs can paste Markdown when you enable it in Tools > Preferences and can open .md files from Drive, but tables and code blocks are often lost. This converter and the GPT Workspace extension keep them.
Can I paste Markdown from ChatGPT straight into Google Docs?
Yes, with the free GPT Workspace Chrome extension. It detects Markdown on paste and converts it to formatted text inside the Doc, with an Undo toast if you wanted the raw text.
Is there a size limit?
Google Docs export accepts up to 1 MB of Markdown per document and 10 documents per minute per visitor. Larger files can still be downloaded as .docx with no limit.
What data is sent to GPT Workspace?
Only the Markdown and the title you typed, and only when you click Open in Google Docs. The preview and the .docx download run entirely in your browser.
