Preview
It lives in a demo account, so use File > Make a copy to keep an editable version in your own Drive.
Demo documents are deleted after 24 hours.
How it works
- 1
Open a file or paste
Drop a .md file, paste text, load a raw GitHub URL or start from the sample. Your draft is saved locally as you type.
- 2
Edit with a live preview
The editor and the rendered page sit side by side (tabs on mobile). Diagrams and formulas render as you write.
- 3
Export anywhere
Download the result as PDF, .md or .html, copy the HTML, or open it as a Google Doc.
What you get
GitHub-style rendering
Tables, task lists, footnotes, fenced code and autolinks render the way they do on GitHub, in light or dark mode.
Mermaid and math
Flowcharts, sequence diagrams and Gantt charts in mermaid blocks, plus LaTeX math between $$, render inline.
Open raw GitHub links
Paste a raw.githubusercontent.com or gist link in the URL box (or add ?url= to this page) and the viewer loads the file. Great for READMEs.
Draft saved locally
Your text is kept in this browser local storage, so a closed tab does not lose your work. Clear it any time.
Export in one click
PDF through the print dialog, .md and .html downloads, Copy HTML for emails and CMSs, and Open in Google Docs.
Private by default
Files are read in your browser. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose Open in Google Docs.
Frequently asked questions
How do I open a .md file online?
Drop the file on this page or click Open file. The Markdown renders immediately on the right (or in the Preview tab on a phone). You can also paste text or load a raw GitHub URL.
Can I view a README from GitHub?
Yes. Open the raw file on GitHub (the Raw button), copy its URL and paste it in the Load from URL box, or add it to this page as ?url=. Only raw.githubusercontent.com, gist.githubusercontent.com and gpt.space links are allowed, up to 5 MB.
Does the viewer render Mermaid diagrams and math?
Yes. Fenced blocks marked mermaid become diagrams and LaTeX between $$ (or inline $) is rendered with KaTeX. Both load only when your document uses them.
Is my document saved?
A draft is saved in your browser local storage while you type and restored when you come back on the same device. It is never sent to a server.
How do I export the Markdown to PDF or Word?
Use Download PDF to print the rendered page to a PDF, Download .docx for Word, Download .html for a standalone page, or Open in Google Docs for a Doc you can share.
Is there a Markdown viewer for Chrome?
Yes. The free GPT Workspace extension has a Markdown viewer you open when you need it: right-click a .md link or a raw GitHub file and choose Open in Markdown viewer, or drop a local file onto it. It has the same rendering and exports.
